Praveen James Antony
In 2007, Praveen enrolled for B.A.L.L.B. with Government Law College, Thrissur, Kerala. Pursuant to obtaining his bachelor’s degree in law, he worked as a Junior Associate for LegalEase Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Cochin. While working for LegalEase, he prepared Research Memos on various issues relating to U.S. Law. Having worked for one year and four months, he moved to Chennai to pursue his master’s degree in criminal law from Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University. Pursuant to the completion of his master’s, Praveen decided to pursue advocacy by starting his practice as a junior lawyer from the chambers of Mr. N.K. Unnikrishnan, a prominent civil and criminal lawyer in the State of Kerala and Mr. Manumon A. During his period of practice, he handled civil, consumer and criminal matters.
After practicing as a lawyer for 3.5 years in India, Praveen moved to UAE at the end of 2020. He resumed building the remaining part of his career in the UAE. While working for in the UAE, he got the opportunity to be a part of a team in handling high stakes commercial arbitrations and DIFC Courts matters. At NYK Law Firm, he is a part of the commercial and construction department which handles ad-hoc & institutional arbitrations, commercial and construction disputes.
Praveen has specialized knowledge and experience in handling complex construction disputes involving default in payment, illegal termination of contract, defects with construction works, failure to adherence to specifications, delay in completion of works, and wrongful invocation of guarantees.
Praveen has also assisted the firm in commercial disputes relating to Channel Partner Agreements, real – estate, supply, among others.
Apart from handling disputes, Praveen also possesses knowledge and experience in providing services such as drafting and reviewing various kinds of construction agreements, litigation due diligence, negotiation, contract management and amicable resolution of disputes.
